"Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ has made us free,
and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage." Galatians 5:1

Are you living the abundant, joy filled life of freedom God intended for you or do you live a life driven and fueled by fear and worry? I invite you to join me as I learn to walk in the freedom that God has given me as His child.

Sonshine

From January 22, 2008

It is hard to believe it is actually January. It feels like July, as I sit by the pool! This morning we awoke to a brilliant sunrise, that illuminated the sea to a transparent blue. Afte a leisurely walk on the beach we dined on fresh fruit and juices at the beachside cabana. How odd it felt to be barefoot, covered with sand and dining in a restaurant.

After breakfast I returned to the room and spent some time on the balcony studying and praying. As I looked out across the sea, I was blinded by the sun's reflection off the water and I sat there pondering how glorious heaven will be filled with the light of God's glory and it struck me that the sun truly is a reflection of God. When God's life and love shine upon us, we become transparent like the shallow waters of the Carribean. God's love chases the shadows from our lives and warms us through, despite the weather and circumstances around us. As vessels of His love we have the capacity to radiate that warmth and light into all those we come into contact with. It never ceases to amaze me how He works through our human fraility and uses us to magnify His love to the world!

Numbers 6:24-26

"The Lord bless thee, and keep thee: The Lord make His face to shine upon thee: The Lord lift up His countenance upon thee, and give thee peace."

May God's face shine upon you today and warm you wherever you are,

Blessings

From January 21, 2008

My husband travels alot with his job, but God has used these travels to bring tremendous blessing and rest to my life. A few months before the births of our last couple of children God has given me the opportunity to travel along and experience a few days of rest and relaxation. This pregnancy is no exception, 6 months pregnant with our 6th child, I find myself lounging on the balcony, listening to the rolling surf and overlooking the brilliant blue waters of the Caribbean, as I experience the first of five days in Cancun.

Although the weather is a bit dreary, it is definately warmer than the subzero temperatures we left yesterday. The peaceful sounds of the pounding surf, chirping birds, and classical music are all that reach my ears. The sea stretches beyond the horizon, as I watch the rolling waves and clouds come in, I am awed by the magnificance of God's creation and how minute we are in comparison to Him. Despite the falling rain, what do I have to complain about as I sit here enamoured by His greatness and goodness. Thank you God for this time to rest in your presence and be refreshed by your glory!

I'm Back

Happy New Year!

It has been quite awhile since I have posted. The past few months found me without a computer and suffering morning sickness and exhaustion. Yes, for those of you who didn't already know it we are expecting! EDA: Middle of May. Other than being extremely tired, everything is fine.

Although the past few months have been exhausting God has used them to bring me to a new dependence upon Him. He has been teaching me to listen to His voice and follow His directions, and when I do this, He without fail supplies the strength I need. When God brings us to a place that we have nothing left to give and no choice but to depend upon Him, He does the supernatural through us, indwelling us with His power and strength.

I am thankful for the past few months because I have learned to love and trust Him more. He has developed contentment and joy in my life as I have leaned upon Him for sufficiency. He is my sustainer!

Now that I'm set up with my own laptop I hope to be more consistent in posting. Until the next post I will leave you with a few quotes from Steve McVey's excellent book, "The Grace Walk"

"Walking after the flesh is simply relying on your own abilities instead of God's resources."

"To walk after the flesh simply means to live a lifestyle which does not rely on Christ as its source."

"Resting in Christ is the sole responsibility of the Christian. Everything else flows out of that."

I Thes 5:24 "He who calls you is faithful, who also will do it."

"Not only does Christ call us to the Christian life, but He will also live it for us. After all, who else could live the Christ-life except for Christ."

I pray that you will rest in Him today!
